This week we wanted to take a moment to let you know about some of the upcoming improvements to the OPR website.
Over the last 12 months we’ve been hard at work at improving the OPR branding, with the new banner designs, new render style, new illustrations, and overall just polishing every part of the brand that we can. We’ve also been working on a new version of the OPR website, which we’re hoping will go live in the next 1-2 months.
The new website is going to feature an slick design with improved navigation, as well as some new pages dedicated to upcoming features (such as the compatibility program, volunteers program, etc.). In order to help new players get into the games, we’re going to be adding some new and improved starter sets, both for 2D print and 3D print, all for free.
Then we’re also thinking of re-branding the way that our rules are organized, with a new downloads section that makes all the content more visible, as well as possibly changing some of the names and order of documents to be clearer. We’ve also noticed that there’s a lot of confusion when it comes to the WebApp vs Army-Forge, so we’re looking into condensing those into a single thing, making it easier for people to find the rules for their armies all in one place.
Finally we’re also planning on re-working how we deliver news. Right now we have the weekly news post, which oftentimes suffers from either being basically empty, because we have nothing to announce, or being too full of content, and so each news item only gets a tiny section. In the future, we will be delivering news for each new thing in individual posts, that give us the space we need to talk more about those topics. We’re also going to bring back the newsletter, where we will send out monthly highlights for you to check out.
As part of the website redesign, some old things will be removed however. We’re going to be removing the one-off games section, as well as the jams section. The jams will continue, and we will announce them via our news posts, but we’re not going to have a page for them. The one-off games are really old, and used by less than 1% of our community, so we’re going to remove their section for now. Some of the games will be making a return later as full new games, but some of them will not be available anymore.
We hope that you enjoyed this sneak-peek at what’s coming soon, and we can’t wait to finally switch to the new website!
OPR Hangout Stream Coming
On the last week of every month, we’re running an OPR Hangout stream over on YouTube, where we showcase upcoming releases, sneak peeks at future content, and have a Q&A session for you to get involved.
This is a relaxed stream, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at our creation process whilst chatting a bit and having some fun. The next stream is going to be on January 26th at 20:00 GMT / 15:00 EST / 12:00 PST.
