Open Call for Writers, New Collaboration and More

3D Print, Battle Report, Collaboration, Grimdark Future, Kyoushuneko Miniatures

Hi everyone,

In today’s update we have a great opportunity for those of you that like to write epic stories, a new collaboration for 3D print models, a cool Grimdark Future battle report and finally an update for the forum!

Open Call for Writers

One of the questions we asked during our last Community Survey was if people would be interested in narrative campaigns for our games, which was answered with a very decisive YES from the fans.

Well, if we want to make narrative campaigns, then we’re going to need someone to write all of the cool stories that go into that, recounting heroic deeds and epic battles to the last man.

As you can tell from the little background story blurbs at the beginning of the army lists, we’re not really the best at writing this kind of stuff…

In order to help us get some actual quality stories out there we’re currently looking for writers that would like to work with us, and anyone can apply.

To apply simply send an e-mail with a 150-300 words story set in the Grimdark Future or Age of Fantasy universes to: onepageanon@gmail.com

Make sure to put OPR WRITER at the beginning of the e-mail’s title so that our filter can pick it up, and we’re going to accept applications until the 26th of February.

Anything goes really, so you can send us short stories, battle descriptions, army backgrounds, or whatever else you think can best show off your writing skills.

If you are selected we will contact you for future projects, and here is the deal we are going to offer you for any collaboration:

  • We are going to pay for any content that is going to be distributed commercially, such as Patreon-exclusive content or paid Rulebooks.
  • Any content that is going to be distributed for free is on a voluntary basis, such as community campaigns or similar open content.

This is the first time we’re organizing something like this so things could always change as we move along, but anything we do will always be communicated very clearly.

That’s it, go ahead and send your stories now, we’re looking forward to reading them!

Grimdark-Prime

New Collaboration

Today we’re also really happy to announce that we’ll be collaborating with Kyoushuneko Miniatures to release 3D print fantasy miniatures for Age of Fantasy!

They make really stunning looking fantasy miniatures, which are released via their own Patreon, and they’ve agreed to collaborate with us to provide miniatures specifically designed for our games.

Check out the Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/Kyoushuneko_Miniatures

The way this is going to work is that they provide us with special miniatures, which are going to be exclusive to our patrons in early access for one month, and after that will be made available for free on CGTrader.

So yeah, more models for you every month, sounds pretty great. :D

Grimdark Future Battle Report

The fine folks at Atelier d’un Wargamer have posted up a new Grimdark Future battle report, with a 1450pts slaughter of Prime Brothers vs TAO Coalition.

This battle report is in French, but you can use the auto-translate feature on YouTube to get a semi-reliable translation… and also it’s always fun to just watch things die!

Fan-Made Content Section on the Forum

Finally we wanted to let you all know that we have a new section on the official forum for Fan-Made Content: https://onepagerules.proboards.com/board/39/fan-content

Here you will find cool new takes on our existing games, or even total conversions of the one-offs, such as the bombastic WarMechs conversion of WarFleets.

Make sure to check it out and post your own crazy ideas. :)

Grimdark-Titans

That’s it for today. We’re looking forward to reading all of your story submissions, and we’re going to be releasing some more awesome content next week so get ready!

3D Print Results + Army Updates

3D Print, Age of Fantasy, Battle Report, Community Survey, Firefight, Game Update, Grimdark Future, Skirmish

Hi everyone,

Today we’re coming back at you with the 3D print survey results, as well as some much needed army updates, and finally a battle report too!

3D Print Survey Results

The 3D print survey results are in, and honestly a lot of stuff was expected, like most people wanting 28mm models, wanting heroes/infantry kits, and being mostly interested in Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy.

So let’s get to the interesting bit, and instead show you the top 5 armies that players are interested in:

  • Battle Sisters
  • Robot Legions
  • Battle Brothers
  • Alien Hives
  • Machine Cult

Seeing these results we’ve decided that our first miniatures set is going to be for the Battle Sisters, and once we’re done with that we’ll make another poll.

Whilst these 5 were the most requested armies, there were plenty of other armies that all got a couple of votes each, and we think that there’s definitely some value added to not only release models for the most popular armies, but to also try out cool stuff that players don’t necessarily expect.

If this 3D print project goes well and enough people sign up to Tier 3 on Patreon, then we’re going to try and release two sets of miniatures each month, one set for the most popular armies, and one set for some underserved armies (or something completely different and cool).

So what’s next?

Well, we’ve already started working on the Battle Sisters set, which will hopefully be released at the beginning of March, and then everyone can sign up to get the models.

After that we’re going to be making a new survey for the next month’s models, which will again be release at the beginning of the next month, etc.

One thing that’s worthy of notice, we already have some Battle Brothers miniatures available, and we’re going to be re-working them for out CGTrader page. These minis are going to always remain free, just to give people a taste of the quality we provide, as well giving them an opportunity to do some test prints before delving deeper.

Army Updates

This week we’re releasing a very important update, which entails the splitting of various combined armies into individual armies, as well as some other small patches.

For GF/GFF we’re splitting up the Mercenaries into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.

Then we’re also splitting up the Battle Brothers and Prime Brothers into individual factions in response to more and more Prime Brothers models being released, and if we keep them together the list is going to blow up into something gigantic.

We’re also updating the Prime Brothers with new weapons and upgrades, as the list needed some maintenance to keep it up to standard.

For AoF/AoFS we’re splitting up the Dwarves into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.

Splitting up the armies into individual factions is being done in order to avoid rules bloat, to make armies easier to find in the army folder, and also because it makes them easier to implement in something big that’s coming in the future. ;)

Here the full patch notes:

Grimdark Future

Dwarf Guilds

  • Heroes with Jetpacks now ignore the Slow rule

Havoc Brother Disciples

  • Change Brothers now have AP(1) on their Assault Rifles

Mercenaries

  • Split armies into single factions: Human Inquisition, Elven Jesters, Feudal Guard

Prime Brothers

  • Added new unit: Grave Captain
  • Heroes have more ranged and melee upgrades now
  • Re-worked Auto-Rifles to have 3 attacks
  • Prime Brothers can now swap any Auto-Rifle for a Rifle or Precision Rifle
  • Prime Brothers can take Grenade Launcher Auto-Rifle attachments
  • Raider Squads now come with Heavy Pistols
  • Elimination Squads can now upgrade with Laser Rifles

Age of Fantasy

  • Split armies into single factions: Dwarves, Volcanic Dwarves, Sky-City Dwarves

Age of Fantasy: Skirmish – Solo AI Batrep

Finally because this is something we don’t get so often, Sad and Lonely Gamer has posted up another excellent solo AI batrep, this time playing AoF: Skirmish.

The match features a quick and bloody skirmish of Eternal Wardens vs Orcs, make sure to check it out and subscribe to his channel!

That’s it for today, but that’s in no way all we have to offer, and there’s so many new exciting things coming soon that we just can’t wait to share… but we still have to!

Happy Wargaming!

3D Print Survey + Battle Reports

3D Print, Age of Fantasy, Battle Report, Community Survey, Grimdark Future, Play Tokens, The Makers Cult

Hi everyone,

Today we got something really exciting for you regarding 3D print models, as well as a bunch of new battle reports for you to watch.

3D Print Models

During the community survey there were a lot of people asking us if we could provide 3D print models as part of our offering, which had us very surprised, so we went around and asked some 3D model makers for possibilities to collaborate.

Well here we are just a few weeks later, and the fine folks at The Makers Cult have offered to help us out (you might know them from some of the awesome battle brothers miniatures they already made for us).

So now the plan we have is to follow the same development cycle that they have to provide you with awesome minis every month. :D

This is how it will work:

  • Tier 3 patrons receive new 3D print models every month
  • Patreon supporters vote on what models we make next
  • Old models get cycled out and are made available via CGTrader

Right now we’re planning on each month’s release to be either a single cool miniature (like a hero or vehicle), or a kit to put together a squad (with multiple weapons), but as we get more experience we could start experimenting with other stuff.

Take the 3D print survey: https://forms.gle/VsW6sSwPBDbC1NPp7

Tier 3 is just $5 more than Tier 2, however don’t upgrade your pledge just yet, as we’ll only be starting this new cycle once the first batch of models is ready. Once everything is in place we’ll make an announcement, and then you can get your hands on those sweet sweet miniatures.

This is a really exciting opportunity, and we’re looking forward to seeing where we go with this. If the demand is high enough this could be opening the doors towards a ton of new stuff we could be doing, so keep your eyes peeled!

Note that all of the existing Battle Brothers heroes and infantry models we released will remain completely free of charge for everyone.

Battle Reports Galore!

First up we have an awesome new Grimdark Future battle report from Wyloch Plays, with an epic 5500pts clash of Alien Hives vs Wormhole Daemons.

Then we’ve had lots of people ask for more Age of Fantasy battle reports, so here’s an awesome Havoc War Disciples vs Ogres match from Sad and Lonely Gamer.

Finally we have another great solo batrep for Grimdark Future, this time it’s a heated battle of Orc Marauders vs Change Wormhole Daemons.

3D Print Tokens

For all of you 3D print fans we also have a new set of 3D print tokens shared by Grabbit, which should look pretty awesome on the table once you paint them up.

Get them here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4146337

We’d also like to add that if you make any 3D print models for our games feel free to share them with us, and we’ll make sure to highlight them in these news posts.

That’s it for today, please make sure to fill out the survey and we’ll make sure to provide you with the most awesome miniatures we can. :D

New Game, New Faction, New Units and More!

Age of Fantasy, Covering Fire!, Double Tap, Firefight, Game Update, Grimdark Future, One-Offs, Skirmish, War Fleets

Hi everyone,

Today we’ve got a ton of exciting new stuff for you, so let’s not beat around the bush and get right to it!

Covering Fire!

First up, we have a new One-Off game called Covering Fire! that we just released.

This is a very interesting game, because it’s a platoon-sized infantry game that requires no measuring tape and has no fixed round structure.

Instead the game relies on an action/reaction system, where players keep activating their units until something happens that ends their turn, such as missing shots, having their units suppressed, or failing a morale test.

As an infantry game focussed on rifle and mg squads all units are always assumed to be in range, and movement is done in a straight line from cover to cover, so no measuring is required at all, making for a super fast experience.

What’s really cool about this is that since there are no measurements in the game you can play it with both 15mm or 28mm, without having to adapt any of the rules.

covering fire

The game was heavily inspired by Corssfire, however in the future we’re planning on giving it a stronger OPR flavor, adding quality values, special rules, and vehicles.

Give it a go whenever you can, it’s super fast to play and we can use all the feedback we can get. :D

One-Off Games Updates

Since we’re already talking about one-off games, we’ve also gone ahead and updated Double Tap and Orion’s Gate (now re-name to War Fleets), following a lot of the suggestions given to us by the community.

We’re really happy to see so many people are playing the one-off games and are looking forward to releasing more in the future, so please keep your feedback and suggestions coming.

Here the patch notes:

Double Tap

  • Added rules for Frag Grenades, Flash Grenades and Smoke Grenades
  • Re-worked cover and elevation rules

Orion’s Gate / War Fleets

  • Changed the game’s name to War Fleets to make it more setting independent
  • Raised the recommended point value to 300pts
  • Initiative now changes between rounds
  • Ramming ships now suffer less damage than rammed ships
  • Re-worked stats for most weapon components
  • Re-worked boarding rules to make them more balanced

Grimdark Future + Age of Fantasy Updates

Finally let’s talk about our main line of games.

For Grimdark Future we have a lot of small patches here and there, but what’s most relevant is that we’ve been adding some new units to the game, especially for the recently released Battle Sisters models.

Additionally we also released a new Prime Brothers vehicle, and after a lot of feedback from our Firefight players we have modified the standard special rules of Pathfinders, giving players a cheaper option so they can get more units on the field.

For Age of Fantasy on the other hand we’ve released a completely new faction for the Clans of the War Cry, the Tyrant Clan. This faction focusses on reliable melee warriors with a good quality value, backed by some varied heroes.

Then we also updated a couple of armies based off player’s feedback, adding some new models for the Dwarves and Ratmen, as well as modifiying a lot of different smaller things which will hopefully give players what they want.

Here the full patch notes:

Grimdark Future

Battle Brothers

  • Added new unit: Prime Brothers Anti-Grav APC
  • Pathfinders can now take Scout as an upgrade instead of having it by default
  • Aggro Brothers now have 2x Fist-Carbines

Battle Sisters

  • Added new units: Crusaders, Cult Assassins, Support Walker
  • Heroes can now be mounted on a Holy Anti-Grav Pulpit
  • Re-worked Assault Sister into an Energy Sword and a Double Pistol version

Dark Elves

  • Agony Whips now have Poison and Rending
  • Fixed upgrade list selection for Raven Bombers and Razor Fighters

Havoc Brother

  • Added new unit: Dark Engineer
  • Heroes can now take Energy Hammers

Havoc Brother Disciples

  • All Lords of Havoc can now take Energy Hammers
  • Lords of War can now take Heavy Cleavers
  • Lords of Plague can now take a ton of new melee weapons
  • Lords of Lust can now take Noise Rifles and Lust Whips

Human Defense Force

  • Fixed cost of Sniper Squads

Orc Marauders

  • Shamans now have the Bad Shot rule
  • Jetpack Orcs can now upgrade up to two models with better weapons
  • Fixed upgrade list selection for Sepcialist Orcs

Grimdark-Raiders

Age of Fantasy

Sky-City Dwarves

  • Added new unit: Balloon Master

Clans of the War Cry

  • Added new faction: Tyrant Clan
  • Added missing faction: Agony Clan

Havoc Warriors

  • Re-worked hero weapon upgrades

Havoc Warrior Disciples

  • Lords of Havoc now all have A4
  • Re-worked hero weapon upgrades

Ratmen

  • Added new unit: Greater Rat Daemon
  • Warlocks now have A3 in melee
  • Re-worked hero upgrade lists
  • Storm Troopers now have only Halberds again
  • Warriors and Storm Troopers can take Weapon Teams again
  • Tunnel Drills and Tunnel Gauntlets have Ambush again
  • Censer Chariots and Bell Chariots are now individual units

That’s it for today, we’re really excited to see how players like Covering Fire! and we’ll be back next week with an interesting proposition for our community. ;)

Community Survey Results

Community Survey

Hi everyone,

Last week we launched a new community survey and after analyzing the 200+ responses we got we’re finally ready to share the results with you.

This has been our biggest community survey so far, and we’re really excited that so many people took part in it and are helping shape the future of our project, so I’d like to thank everyone for participating! :D

Just like last time there’s some people that used the “other” sections to ask specific questions about the games and the project, however since we don’t collect e-mail addresses we have no way to reply to you.

Please if you have any questions and feedback, go ahead and post them on the forum so that we can give you an official answer: http://onepagerules.proboards.com/

With that out of the way let’s get to the survey results…

Would you be interested in participating or spectating in an OPR game jam?

game jam

Right now 72.1% of players said they’re interested in a game jam, of which 1/3rd are actually interested in participating, which is super awesome.

These results have given us a lot more confidence in pulling this off, and if more people from outside the dedicated OPR community join in we could well have over 100 games submitted to the jam!

We’d like to organize the jam for some time in the spring or summer, but honestly having never hosted one we’d like to take some time to properly figure everything out before jumping into it, so no date has been fixed so far.

Which one of these settings would you be interested in for new full games?

new games

This was an interesting one because we made this list first thinking of what players would like to see, and then sprinkled in a few settings that would be our favorites to work on, hoping players would vote those ones the most. :P

Luckily for us it seems that other players are also excited about the same sort of things we like, and here are some of the top results from the list:

  • Post-Apoc
  • Gritty Fantasy
  • Cyberpunk
  • Space Battles
  • Star Wars

So yeah, you can definitely expect us to be working on these settings in the near future, for all sorts of games. What we’d like to do is create a couple of new game engines, and then see how they fit together with these themes whilst also modifying them for the specific quirks of the setting, but we’ll get into the specific of that another time.

Even thought they didn’t make the top of the list we’re also really considering working on at least one historical game and one small-scale (6mm/15mm) game, because we feel that there’s people out there that would love the style of our games but simply don’t try them because they’re not historical or small-scale games.

There’s also been a lot of people asking for us to make a mecha game, so we’ll definitely think about how we can work that out, or if maybe we can somehow include the mecha rules into a 6mm/15mm sci-fi game.

Would you be interested in printable paper fantasy miniatures?

paper miniatures

Here we got a 58% interested response, which honestly is much higher than we thought it would be, but I guess it goes hand in hand with the DIY nature of our games.

Seeing so many people interested is making us think about a couple of different things we could do in the future, both for OPR as well as for other projects.

For example we could provide a basic set of paper miniatures for all of our future games, especially for settings that don’t have a huge selection of miniatures out there or that not many people already have miniatures for.

It could also be really interesting to start a new project fully dedicated to a game that comes with new paper miniatures and missions on a monthly basis, though that would probably have to be its own separate thing…

Would you be interested in physical miniatures?

physical miniatures

No surprises here, 73.1% of players are interested in physical miniatures, however what is interesting is that in the comments lots of players said that they’d be interested in 3D printable miniatures for higher patreon tiers.

I can’t make any promises, but I’ll be getting in contact with different 3D model makers regarding that to see what’s feasible to make within our budget, so look forward to more news on that.

About the actual physical miniatures, we’ve gotten a few comments from people that are worried about us making games that could only be played with our own miniatures, or that we start yet another competitive wargame that then just dies like many others.

The answer to these concerns is a definitive no and no.

Right now the idea is to make a game that can be played with any miniatures, and we’d be providing our own miniatures for those that want them. So if we fund it on Kickstarter you could imagine that there would be 3 pledge levels: digital rules only, digital rules + physical book, and finally digital rules + physical book + physical miniatures.

Also the game we’re thinking of making would be developed to be played in 3 different modes: as a narrative campaign like rangers of shadow deep, as an open ended campaign like mordheim, or as a single skirmish encounter like GFF or AoFS.

We want to give players something that they can play solo, coop or versus, and that doesn’t rely on continuously pushing you to buy more models. At the end of the day we’re good at making rules, so that’s always going to be our primary focus, and cool models are just a bonus.

Which one of these expansions would you be interested in?

expansions

This was a question related to our currently available games, and it was very interesting to see that 70.3% of players are interested in Narrative Campaigns over anything else.

Since our games are so light on narrative we’re going to have to experiment a little with narrative campaigns, and are currently thinking of doing a first “test” campaign that is released in multiple single-mission episodes.

This way we can collect feedback as the missions come out and improve our format, instead of committing to something that might not work and wasting a lot of effort on it.

Now let me say one thing: I’m not good at writing stories, and I think that’s very evident from the little lore we have in the game. :(

Because of this I’m going to be looking for some writers that can help me out, and soon I’ll be making an announcement for people to recommend writers or apply as writers for our narrative campaigns. So if you know anyone that might be interested or would like to do it yourself, then you’ll be able to apply for the position soon.

Which Grimdark Future armies do you play?

grimdark future

Here we always have the usual suspects at the top, however it’s interesting to see that HDF players have leapt forward a bit whilst Orc Marauders have lagged behind.

Compared to our last community survey it’s cool to see that in general we now have a higher percentage of players that own less popular armies, and we’re hoping to see that trend continue so that maybe one day they can also share some of the spotlight.

Which Age of Fantasy armies do you play?

age of fantasy

For Age of Fantasy once again Dwarves are at the top of the list, and just as with Grimdark Future it seems that Orcs have gone down a bit, thought in general the played armies are still more evenly distributed than in Grimdark Future.

Here again it’s very cool to see that some of the smaller armies are being played more, and even the freshly released armies are getting a solid amount of players. Let’s see what the future brings, as we suspect more fresh fantasy armies to be released this year. ;)

Do you have any suggestions for things we should do with OPR?

Finally there is no graph that I can show for this one, and we got so many different comments that it’s hard to see many trends, but still let me delve into the highlights:

Unclear Information

There are still players that are still unaware that there are full rulebooks and point calculators available, and some that say the website is confusing, which is definitely very alarming for us. We’re going to look into re-structuring our website at some point this year, trying to streamline it further and make things clearer.

Physical Rulebooks

Quite a few players suggested that we start selling physical versions of the books, and wouldn’t you know it, we’re actually working on that already. No official date on when that will happen, but we’re thinking of partnering up with Wargames Vault for the on-demand printing right now.

Digital Tabletop Game

Some players said they would really love a digital tabletop video game for GF/AoF, which seems kind of logical seeing how many people like to play our games using Roll20 and TTS. That being said, whilst we’d love to jump into something like that, making a video game takes a lot of time and money, and we’re not even really sure that it would pay off.

Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely something we’re going to keep in the back of our minds, and if the project grows enough we could definitely do it (maybe use KS as a platform to properly gauge interest), but as of right now it seems impossible.

Of course if you know anyone that could help us work or any studio that might be willing to partner up for such an adventure let us know!

That’s it for today, hope you enjoyed this insight into the results of the community future, and that you’re as excited as we are for what’s coming next in 2020! :D

Happy Wargaming!

Community Survey – January 2020

Community Survey

Hi everyone,

2019 was a year of big changes for OPR, during which we polished our games a lot as well as re-released a lot of old games. We also added a ton of new features that we always thought the project needed, and now we feel pretty stable in our offering.

That being said, we want 2020 to be an even bigger year for OPR!

Since we’re stable and things have calmed down this is the perfect opportunity to start expanding what we provide to our players. This year we want to release new games, as well as delve into unknown territory and try completely new things, so it’s going to be a very interesting journey.

To help us with that, we’re launching a new community survey today: https://forms.gle/WCvXCSbTLMarM1rP8

This community survey is a bit different from the last one, in that we’re asking for a much broader range of opinions on a multitude of topics. Because of this we’ve added an extra blank field to each question so that if you don’t find the option you want in the list, then you can add your own comment.

There are a couple of things we’d like to highlight about the questions:

Question 1 – Game Jam: The plan right now is to do a 48hr game jam that takes place over a weekend, where everyone is given a simple theme to build a one-page game around. We’ll be providing all of the documents and guidelines to make the process as simple and possible, and we’re thinking of using itch.io for the uploads.

Question 2 – New Games: For this question we’d like to know what games you’d actually be interested in playing, which you already have models for or for which you’d buy new models. The list is quite short so feel free to add any additional themes you’re interested in, as we’ve surely missed a ton of popular ones.

Question 3 – Paper Miniatures: Here we’re talking about paper miniatures for a completely new game and/or project, and not for our existing games. Right now we’re not too keen on making miniatures for all of our existing armies (they’re far too many), but please do leave your opinion in the blank space.

Question 4 – Physical Miniatures: We’ve been in contact with an awesome miniatures company that already has a few KS projects under its belt, and we’re looking to see if it would make sense to collaborate on a new project. The main idea would be to create a custom game that comes with a two player set and that can be expanded upon, but that can be fully enjoyed as a stand-alone boxed game. This way people can get awesome miniatures that they can play with forever, instead of having to buy in to yet another model line that they’re afraid might be abandoned one day.

Question 5 – Expansions: Here we’re talking about expansion booklets that are akin to the full rulebooks, so not just a one-page affair (like the skirmish campaign rules). The narrative campaigns would come with their own storyline and multiple scenarios, whilst the other expansions would have special rules, new mission types, random events, etc.

If you have a minute to spare please take the community survey, it really helps a lot: : https://forms.gle/WCvXCSbTLMarM1rP8

Sky-City Dwarves vs Disciples of Change

Age of Fantasy, Quickplay Armies

Hi everyone,

Recently my laptop died (RIP Fujitsu AH532, you served me well) so right now I’m trying to get a new one up and running ASAP.

All of the project files were backed up in the cloud so we didn’t lose anything, however this means that work on the project has slowed down for now.

In the meantime we thought it would be cool to bring you some Quickplay Armies for one of the cooler boxed sets released recently, and hopefully there will be more of these coming out this year! :)

Quickplay Armies

Quickplay Armies are pre-made army lists designed to be ready to play out of the box, without the need to count point costs or create your own lists. They are the perfect thing to dip your toes into new armies and see if you like them!

For far too long have the Sky-City Dwarves felt safe high in the clouds, but not for much longer, as the Disciples of Change have taken up arms and are flying straight at them with their deadly daemonic discs.

This week’s Quickplay Armies: Sky-City Dwarves vs Disciples of Change

Sky-City Dwarves

  • 1x Sky-Gunboat
  • 3x Balloon Wardens w/ Sky-Mines
  • 3x Balloon Riggers

Disciples of Change

  • 1x Birdman Shaman w/ Disc of Change & Wizard(2)
  • 3x Birdmen Disc Riders w/ Lances & Bows of Fate
  • 3x Birdmen Disc Riders w/ Lances & Bows of Fate
  • 3x Manta Daemons

The Sky-City Dwarves in this set focus try to make up for their small numbers by boasting high toughness and solid defense. The list comes with a powerful Sky-Gunboat that can wreak havoc with a variety of ranged weapons, as well as Baloon Wardens that pose a big threat to melee units with their Sky-Mines.

The Disciples of Change on the other side focus on crazed birdmen that launch into battle with their razor sharp flying discs. The list comes with a Bidman Shaman that can cast powerful offensive spells, as well as a pack of Manta Daemons that devour their foes in melee whilst also being able to take quite a beating.

Fantasy-Dwarves-2

That’s it for today, we’re hopefully going to be back next week with more news on cool things to come, as well as a couple of patches for our One-Off games.

Happy Wargaming!

Help Wyloch Out!

Battle Report, Grimdark Future

Hi everyone,

Over the past year Wyloch has been putting out a ton of awesome Grimdark Future battle reports on his YouTube crafting channel which has been really great for our project, however now he needs our help. :)

Due to some YouTube algorithm shenanigans he’s now had to set up a new separate channel that’s 100% dedicated to all things gaming, including battle reports for your favorite OPR games.

Please help him out by subscribing to his new channel, and if you can leave a like, post a comment and share his videos that would be super helpful too!

Here’s his latest Grimdark Future battle report, an explosive 4000pts showdown between the TAO Coalition and the Robot Legions:

Wyloch has helped our project a ton by spreading the word and showing off how awesome miniature wargaming can be, even if it comes in such a small package as OPR.

Thank you!

– Gaetano

2019 in Review

AI Rules, Battle Report, Grimdark Future, Merch, OPR Store, WarStuff

Hi everyone,

With the year coming to an end and we thought it would be cool to give you some insights into how the project has been doing, how the community has been developing, and a couple of cool things for you to check out.

Before we continue I’d like to thank you all for your amazing support you’ve given to this project by donating and spreading the word, this really is a dream come true and none of it would’ve been possible without you.

So, let’s dig in to some numbers! :D

This year has been amazing in terms of traffic and it’s been our biggest year so far, with 45,000+ visitors and 200,000+ page views over the past 12 months.

On top of that our games have been downloaded 100,000+ times, which is amazing!

monthly traffic

This traffic is coming from all over the world, and whilst the main concentration is in North America and Europe, we were amazed to see that our games have been downloaded in 120+ countries (apparently we even got some downloads from the Vatican, who knew the pope loves miniature wargames?).

It’s also been really cool to see that our games have spread out all the way to Japan where there is now a whole team dedicated to translating WarStuff into Japanese (download it here). I’m really grateful for all the awesome work they have done, and you should definitely check out their Instagram page here.

This year we’ve also been putting a lot of effort into releasing a lot more content and providing cool stuff for our Patreon supporters, and it really paid off because it’s also been our biggest year there, going from ~60 patrons in January all the way up to ~250 patrons in December. If you aren’t a patron yet you can support us here.

This year has also been one where we introduced a lot of new things to the project, and seeing how well they’ve all been received we’re going to keep pushing to innovate and provide all of our players with new content.

Back in August we launched our Monthly Newsletter and even though we’re new to this it’s been going pretty awesome so far. We’ve got 125+ subscribers and it keeps on growing, so we’re going to try and invest a little more time into it in the future just to make it that much more awesome. If you haven’t subscribed yet you can do so here.

Then in November we also also launched our Teespring Store, where we can finally offer some of the Brandon’s amazing art to be printed on a t-shirt. Even though we’re still super new to this we’re proud to say that we’ve had 500+ visitors so far! If you want to order your own t-shirt, mug, sticker, etc. then check out the store here.

When it comes to community we’ve also taken some bold steps in a new direction by having a dedicated Discord Server where players can discuss the games, chat about the lore, or organize online games via Roll20.

We’ve recently also linked the server to our Patreon rewards so patrons get access to exclusive channels, and really if you haven’t checked it out I think you’re missing out on a BIG part of our community. Join the server here.

Of course this doesn’t mean that the OPR Forum isn’t doing great as well, and we now have 750+ members and 950+ threads on there. This year we’ve introduced a new Hobby Section for people to share pictures of their models, and the community has been posting some awesome content like Vurrunna’s Proxy Paper Miniatures. Join the fun here.

We’re also really happy to see that the YouTube community has been embracing our games more and more, with content creatures making some awesome game reviews and battle reports with our rules. Check out some of the videos here:

We really couldn’t be prouder of how far our little project has come over the past year, and we’re really looking forward to all of the cool new stuff that we’re going to be doing over the next 12 months. :D

That’s it for the last post of 2019, we hope you enjoyed this little insight into everything that’s been going on and we’ll be back in a few weeks.

Happy new year!

– Gaetano

6 New Games Released!

Army Men Combat, Deathball, Double Tap, One-Offs, Orion's Gate, WarStuff, Wasteland Racing

Hi everyone,

For those of you that don’t know, before the great purge of 2017 we used to have a lot more games than just Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy, many of which were beloved by OPR fans all over the world.

Those games had been discontinued for a long time because we felt that we didn’t have the time to properly support them, and couldn’t find a neat way to keep them available for the community as we re-worked our project for the future.

Fans have been asking us for years to bring fan-favorites such as WarStuff and Double Tap back, and today we’re happy to say that the long wait is over!

If you check out our website you’re not going to find a new section called One-Off Games, which is going to be our new repository for a ton of small and awesome games that didn’t make the cut to become bigger (yet).

So what are One-Off Games you ask?

One-Off Games are stand-alone games in our signature one-page format, which are developed to explore specific mechanics or miniature lines. These games have minimum support and could be removed at any point unless they prove to be popular enough.

Check them out here: https://onepagerules.com/portfolio/one-off-games

For today we’re only bringing back 6 of our most popular classic games, but in the future you can expect more games to be released this way as we find interesting ideas to explore or just need some rules to play with cool new miniatures.

Army Men Combat – These rules were specifically created to be played with green army men and using household items as terrain, though you can use any miniatures you like. The rules feature an interesting random activation mechanic where you have a higher chance of going next if you have more unactivated units, as well as the ability to use Hunker actions for extra protection and Guard actions to fire overwatch. The rules also use an old-school dice pool system, where instead of using modifiers on your rolls you add dice to your pool and compare results.

Deathball – These rules were created to play fantasy sports games without a grid and with any fantasy, sci-fi, post-apoc, etc. miniatures. The activation mechanic in this one is really cool because you have to gamble to activate, so there’s a nice risk/reward system for big plays. Top it off with rules for special racial traits, different terrain types, coach points and random events, and you’ve got yourself a neat and brutal sports game!

Double Tap – Spec-ops combat for modern military or cyberpunk settings, featuring a tried and true action/reaction system that makes every activation important. The game comes with a ton of weapons and special rules to customize your soldiers, which provide a balanced challenge for even the most experienced operators. Highly recommended!

Wasteland Racing – This is a re-vamp of the old Grimdark Racing rules, and boy are you in for a treat. A full-on beer & pretzels game, these rules allow you to smash together toy cars like never before, zooming around deadly race tracks. With rules for everything from pick-up items to speed boosts, as well as lots of vehicle types and driver traits for customization, this is probably the most fun ruleset we’ve ever written. :D

Orion’s Gate – First things first, this game was developed based on an original idea by Austin Peasley, who helped OPR immensely in its hay-day. Orion’s Gate is a spaceship battles game developed to fight massive battles in a short time, and it can also be used to fight fantasy or historical naval battles. The game features a 2D6 system that keeps things balanced across multiple ship types, and there’s a ton of customization for your ships so that no two battles are alike.

WarStuff – Last but not least, WarStuff! This has been the single most requested game to come back since the purge, and we’re really happy to finally see its return. These rules allow you to fight quick skirmish battles with any type of toys or miniatures thanks to its easy to use unit creation system. This is the perfect game to bring to game stores or conventions so that players with models from different games can still play together.

Discord Rewards for Patrons

Finally we wanted to give you a little update regarding our Patreon rewards.

We’re always looking for ways to improve how we can reward fans for their donations, and since so many of you love using Discord we’ve gone ahead and linked the two!

All of our backers now get a special role that shows that they are supporting our project, and backers of Tier 2, 3 and 4 also get access to secret channels to discuss all of the exclusive content that we provide.

That’s it for today folks, really hope you enjoy these new games and that you have a nice holiday. We’ll be back next week to give you a peek into the future!

Happy Wargaming!
