Dynamic Mission Cards

Oh yeah baby, we’re finally releasing official mission cards!

People have been asking for these for a long time now, especially after seeing them being used to great effect in Wyloch’s battle reports. So naturally after talking to him we picked them up, slapped a fresh coat of paint on, and released them to our players.

The dynamic mission cards can be found on the various game pages and are available for all games, so make sure to give them a try next time you play!

New OPR Forum

I know most of you probably weren’t expecting this, however we’re moving the official OPR forum to a new domain and a new provider this month. :)

Our current forum is going to be shut down on the 30th of March, so make sure to save everything you need and copy any content you like over to the new forum by then.

3D Print Models for Fantasy

As we mentioned before we’re collaborating with Kyoushuneko Miniatures to release 3D print fantasy miniatures for Age of Fantasy, and today we’ve got some previews of the new Dwarf Lord hero that they’re making for us.

Campaign Rules Updates

On top of all of this awesome new stuff we’re also releasing a new version of the Campaign Rules, which have been adapted to work with Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy, as well as releasing an update for the skirmish versions.

Now you’ll be able to wage epic campaigns of war where your armies evolve, your heroes get injured, and random events can turn the tide of battle!

Here the changelog:

  • Added rules for 4 different campaign length types
  • Added rules for parallel play and late joiners
  • Removed the campaign objectives section
  • Special objectives now always give 10pts
  • Re-worked some special objectives to make them fairer
  • If you roll a special objective that can’t be completed you must re-roll
  • Winning players now get 2VP + 10pts, whilst losing players get 30pts
  • Underdog bonus allows you to modify friendly and enemy rolls now
  • Smashed leg now gives -1.5″/-3″ movement
  • Agile now gives +1.5″/+3″ movement
  • Re-worked the balance of some random events
  • Warband sheets were re-worked to have an xp tracker

Finally we’ve got some army updates as well as a one-off update for you.

  • Only one model per unit can be upgraded with Psychic now
  • Purgation Brothers can now take Incinerators

Wolf Brothers

  • Re-worked upgrade lists for Wolf Rookies and Wolf Brothers
  • Wolf Brothers can now take Battle Standards

Feudal Guard

  • Added new units: Feudal Engineers, Heavy Support Vehicle, Heavy Battle Tank
  • Heroes can now be mounted on Feudal Steeds and take Energy Lances

Point Calculators + AI Rules Updates

Hi everyone,

Today we’re really happy to announce that we’ve updated our Point Calculators with lots of cool new stuff, plus we’re bringing you one of the many upcoming re-workings of game rules with an update to the Solo AI Rules.


Point Calculators Update

For those of you that are unfamiliar with them, the Point Calculators are booklets with all of the rules and systems we use to create all units in the game, which are available via our Patreon page.

Until now the Point Calculators were pretty cool already, but they felt a little incomplete, especially after the big army updates we did a couple of months ago. So in order to provide our players with the best content we can, we’ve decided to go back and re-work the Point Calculators to bring them to a new glory.

The new versions of the Point Calculators were upgraded with a new layout to make everything clearer to read, as well as having all sections revised to make sure they’re as easy to understand as possible.

On top of that we’ve now added a couple of cool new features:

  • Army Checklist – There’s now a handy checklist in the army creation guidelines that helps you make sure your custom created armies have everything they need to be balanced with all of the official armies in the game.
  • Spell List Creation – We’ve added a new section on how to create your own spell lists and make sure that they’re balanced like the ones from the official armies, as well as the full roster of 35+ spell types that are available in the game.
  • Converting Armies to Firefight/Skirmish – Finally by popular demand there’s also a new section dedicated to how you can convert your custom armies for skirmish games, making sure that you have all the tools you need to play at any game size.

If you’ve always wanted to create your own armies this is the ultimate tool you need in your arsenal, and if you’ve already got the Point Calculator before, then this new version is definitely worth checking out, as it’s the most complete version yet.

Solo AI Rules Update

Lately we’ve been working hard at updating a lot of the existing rules, which we’ll be releasing over the next couple of weeks, among other cool new stuff. ;)

Today we’re starting with the Solo AI Rules, which definitely needed an overhaul in terms of how they were written, as well as some other details here and there. We hope that these new versions make it even easier for you to play games against the AI, and if you have any feedback on how we can improve them further please let us know!

Here the full changelog:

  • Overall re-wrote many sections to make them clearer
  • Hybrid units that are moving toward objectives and have no valid targets will now take rush actions instead of advance actions
  • Clarified how to identify enemies that are in the way, and that the AI will consider targets in proximity as valid even if not technically in the way
  • Re-wrote the controlling objectives rules to clarify that non-seized objectives with more friendly non-pinned units than enemies within 3″ already count as controlled
  • Clarified that the advancing rules apply to shooting and hybrid units only
  • AI units with Deadly will now target single-model units first, prioritizing those with the lowest remaining wounds
  • AI units with Indirect now always use Hold actions if they are in range of enemies
  • Firefight/Skirmish: When setting up objectives the table area is now split into 4 instead of 6, and when deploying units and activating them the table are is now split into 2 instead of 3

Open Call for Writers

Finally just a small update regarding the open call for writers!

We’ve received over 40 submissions, which is way more than we could’ve ever hoped for, and we’re really thankful for everyone that participated.

Since there were so many submissions we weren’t able to read them all yet, but we’re going to get back to the writers as soon as we have decided who we’d like to move forward with for our content.

Honestly it’s really hard to let people down, and it’s so cool that we’ve got so many submissions that we’re thinking about how we could maybe get everyone together to make something cool, a sort of community campaign or something.

Anyway, nothing sure yet, but thanks again for all the submissions. :D

3D Print Results + Army Updates

3D Print, Community Survey, Game Update, Video Content

Hi everyone,

Today we’re coming back at you with the 3D print survey results, as well as some much needed army updates, and finally a battle report too!


3D Print Survey Results

The 3D print survey results are in, and honestly a lot of stuff was expected, like most people wanting 28mm models, wanting heroes/infantry kits, and being mostly interested in Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy.

So let’s get to the interesting bit, and instead show you the top 5 armies that players are interested in:

  • Battle Sisters
  • Robot Legions
  • Battle Brothers
  • Alien Hives
  • Machine Cult

Seeing these results we’ve decided that our first miniatures set is going to be for the Battle Sisters, and once we’re done with that we’ll make another poll.

Whilst these 5 were the most requested armies, there were plenty of other armies that all got a couple of votes each, and we think that there’s definitely some value added to not only release models for the most popular armies, but to also try out cool stuff that players don’t necessarily expect.

If this 3D print project goes well and enough people sign up to Tier 3 on Patreon, then we’re going to try and release two sets of miniatures each month, one set for the most popular armies, and one set for some underserved armies (or something completely different and cool).

So what’s next?

Well, we’ve already started working on the Battle Sisters set, which will hopefully be released at the beginning of March, and then everyone can sign up to get the models.

After that we’re going to be making a new survey for the next month’s models, which will again be release at the beginning of the next month, etc.

One thing that’s worthy of notice, we already have some Battle Brothers miniatures available, and we’re going to be re-working them for out CGTrader page. These minis are going to always remain free, just to give people a taste of the quality we provide, as well giving them an opportunity to do some test prints before delving deeper.

Army Updates

This week we’re releasing a very important update, which entails the splitting of various combined armies into individual armies, as well as some other small patches.

For GF/GFF we’re splitting up the Mercenaries into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.

Then we’re also splitting up the Battle Brothers and Prime Brothers into individual factions in response to more and more Prime Brothers models being released, and if we keep them together the list is going to blow up into something gigantic.

We’re also updating the Prime Brothers with new weapons and upgrades, as the list needed some maintenance to keep it up to standard.

For AoF/AoFS we’re splitting up the Dwarves into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.

Splitting up the armies into individual factions is being done in order to avoid rules bloat, to make armies easier to find in the army folder, and also because it makes them easier to implement in something big that’s coming in the future. ;)

New Game, New Faction, New Units and More!

Game Update

Hi everyone,

Today we’ve got a ton of exciting new stuff for you, so let’s not beat around the bush and get right to it!


Covering Fire!

First up, we have a new One-Off game called Covering Fire! that we just released.

This is a very interesting game, because it’s a platoon-sized infantry game that requires no measuring tape and has no fixed round structure.

Instead the game relies on an action/reaction system, where players keep activating their units until something happens that ends their turn, such as missing shots, having their units suppressed, or failing a morale test.

As an infantry game focussed on rifle and mg squads all units are always assumed to be in range, and movement is done in a straight line from cover to cover, so no measuring is required at all, making for a super fast experience.

What’s really cool about this is that since there are no measurements in the game you can play it with both 15mm or 28mm, without having to adapt any of the rules.

The game was heavily inspired by Corssfire, however in the future we’re planning on giving it a stronger OPR flavor, adding quality values, special rules, and vehicles.

Give it a go whenever you can, it’s super fast to play and we can use all the feedback we can get. :D


One-Off Games Updates

Since we’re already talking about one-off games, we’ve also gone ahead and updated Double Tap and Orion’s Gate (now re-name to War Fleets), following a lot of the suggestions given to us by the community.

We’re really happy to see so many people are playing the one-off games and are looking forward to releasing more in the future, so please keep your feedback and suggestions coming.

Double Tap

  • Added rules for Frag Grenades, Flash Grenades and Smoke Grenades
  • Re-worked cover and elevation rules

Orion’s Gate / War Fleets

  • Changed the game’s name to War Fleets to make it more setting independent
  • Raised the recommended point value to 300pts
  • Initiative now changes between rounds
  • Ramming ships now suffer less damage than rammed ships
  • Re-worked stats for most weapon components
  • Re-worked boarding rules to make them more balanced

Grimdark Future + Age of Fantasy Updates

Finally let’s talk about our main line of games.

For Grimdark Future we have a lot of small patches here and there, but what’s most relevant is that we’ve been adding some new units to the game, especially for the recently released Battle Sisters models.

Additionally we also released a new Prime Brothers vehicle, and after a lot of feedback from our Firefight players we have modified the standard special rules of Pathfinders, giving players a cheaper option so they can get more units on the field.

For Age of Fantasy on the other hand we’ve released a completely new faction for the Clans of the War Cry, the Tyrant Clan. This faction focusses on reliable melee warriors with a good quality value, backed by some varied heroes.

Then we also updated a couple of armies based off player’s feedback, adding some new models for the Dwarves and Ratmen, as well as modifiying a lot of different smaller things which will hopefully give players what they want.

All Armies Updated!!!

Game Update, Video Content

Hi everyone,

Today we’re extremely pleased to announce that all armies have been updated to the new format and with the latest balance changes. :D

This has been an incredible feat as we’ve updated:

  • 40+ armies
  • 70+ factions
  • 1000+ units!

None of this would’ve been possible without the help from our awesome community, as well as our Patreon donations which allow us to invest more time into the project.

With the new balance changes we’ve tried to make sure that all units and weapons have a place on the tabletop, and with the new look we’ve tried to give each armybook a little extra flavor.

The new layout actually has a cool little benefit, in that you can now see a preview image of each army’s illustration in the Army Book Folder, making it even easier to browse for your favorite army.

Big Patch for Grimdark and Fantasy

Game Update

Hi everyone,

This week we’re keeping it simple by just releasing a big patch for Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy which addresses a lot of clarity issues reported by players as well as adding some new units across different armies.

This is not part of the Wave 4 update, but do know that we’re working on it diligently so that it’ll hopefully be out before the holidays.

  • Fixed some minor typos

Ossified Undead Join The Battle!

Game Update, Quickplay Armies

Hi everyone,

Today we’re excited to bring you a new army for Age of Fantasy, as well as some new Quickplay Armies for you to give them a try!


Ossified Undead

The Ossified Undead are a bunch of crazed mutated skeletons that were constructed by cursed necromancers that are seeking revenge from their old vampire lord allies.

Basically at some point the vampire lords used to fight alongside these necromancers in order to conquer Tyria, but once the fighting was over they were too greedy to give up some of their new land.

This lead them to magically mutated the necromancers into skeletons, who didn’t take well to their new predicament (go figure).

In retaliation they used dark magic to put together new skeleton warriors from the remains of their fallen brethren, and are now seeking to destroy the vampiric undead.

Gameplay wise the army is extremely resiliant, with all units having the Regeneration rule, however it’s also very sluggish, with all units having the Slow rule.

Overall expect to have a much more reliable force than other undead armies, with some interesting heroes and monsters.

Quickplay Armies

Quickplay Armies are pre-made army lists designed to be ready to play out of the box, without the need to count point costs or create your own lists. They are the perfect thing to dip your toes into new armies and see if you like them!

To give your new Ossified Undead a try we’re bringing you a set of Quickplay Armies that reflect the slaughter that awaits those that stand in their path. This is a great battle as both forces are highly resilient, so you’ll have to bring your best game in order to kill your enemies as fast as you can.

The Ossified Undead in this set focus on a powerful hero that is protected by a small defensive force. The list comes with a Bone Master that can give friendly units Poison in melee to deal tons of hits, as well as deadly Stalkers that can adapt to every combat situation with their Combat Stance ability.

The Ogres on the other side focus on a solid battle line of Ogre troops, backed up by utterly destructive ranged units. The list comes with a terrifying Warchief that can dish out lots of damage with its 2x Hand Weapons, as well as a Cannon Chariot that can blow up even the strongest units from across the table.

Wave 2 Completed, 12 Armies and 20 Factions Updated

Game Update

Hi everyone,

We’re happy to announce that we’ve completed Wave 2 of our army balance updates and that you can find all of the new files in the respective army folders for each game already!

This wave was a little faster to complete, mainly because we’re now in the groove of this whole update business and so it’s easier to churn out all of these units.

We’ve also gone back and patched some of the recently released Wave 1 armies, so make sure to download the latest version of those too. :D

I don’t want to keep you too long today so this update will only have the patch notes for the latest releases. Next week we’re going to bring you exciting news about some more upcoming changes and a new faction.
