New Video Content
That’s it for today, have a nice weekend everyone. :)
We hope you liked last week’s April Fools joke, and enjoyed the free models. :)
Over this past week we’ve been mainly working on releasing all of the new April patreon content, whilst also slowly chipping away at all the other projects we’ve got cooking. We’re happy to say that the development of Sellswords is going forward really nicely, and are looking forward to posting some sort of public beta at some point in the future, so that we can gather more feedback.
Other than that, we’ve also been preparing a cool special illustration for the OPR anniversary next week, and some of us are also going to take some much deserved time off in the coming weeks. We have tons of stuff to show off from the April releases this week, so let’s get to it!
New Mission Packs
The latest mission pack has been released on Patreon, with 4 brand new missions:
Grimdark Future – Portal Net
GF: Firefight – Chemical Plant
Age of Fantasy – Shatter the Pillars
AoF: Skirmish – Cavern Crawl
These missions are focused on fun new ways to play, with interesting objectives and special rules to spice things up. We release new missions every month, so make sure to stick around so that you don’t miss any.
Note that whilst the missions are designed for each specific game, you can totally play them with the rules for any other game (with slight adjustments). This means that you have even more missions to play each month!
New 2D Minis Released
The new Beastmen and Eternal Dynasty sets are available on Patreon.
These sets feature a ton of minis with front and back views in two different color schemes, as well as black & white. They also include black border versions of the minis, plus VTT tokens to play online.
New Miniatures on Only-Games
Don’t care for 2D printing or 3D printing? Well then we’ve got you covered, because now all of the minis we released in November have been uploaded to our Only-Games Store.

As some of you might have noticed already, lately our weekly updates have been a little scarce on info, but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t progressing at a steady pace behind the scenes.
To keep you in the loop, here’s the major things we’re currently working on, and some of the things that we’re going to start working on in the coming months:
v2.50 + WebApp/ArmyForge – Lately we haven’t had a ton of time to work on the v2.50 rules, but work on the WebApp/ArmyForge continues steadily. We’re hoping to have the Hive City Gangs and War Cry Clans completed by the end of April (it’s a LOT of factions put together), but no promises, sorry.
Warfleets: FTL Re-Vamp – Over the past few months we’ve started working on a re-vamp of FTL, bringing the game into the Grimdark Future universe. As part of this change, we’re completely re-working and expanding all of the factions, with more ships, heroes, upgrades, and more. The goal is to expand the game to feature 16 GF factions (almost tripling the content), which we think will be absolutely epic.
AoF: Sellswords – Whilst we have been very quiet on the Sellswords front, development on the game is still pushing forward, albeit quite slowly. This is a game that has taken a lot longer to develop than anything else, but it’s because we want to make sure that it’s as amazing as you deserve to get.
Small-Scale Games – This is a highly anticipated project, which we’ve been working on relentlessly for a while now, and are hoping to release later this year. The small-scale games are going to allow you to play truly massive battles, and we’re also working on a line of miniatures for them to bring them to life. The rules are still in the very early stages, but are looking quite promising, so we’re very hyped about this one.
Army Backgrounds – 2022 is going to be the year in which we push OPR lore in a big way, starting with a complete overhaul and expansions of the background lore you can find on the army lists. A lot of the current lore is going to change, and we’re eager to show you what we’ve got cooking.
Short Stories – For those that love to read, we’re planning on releasing monthly short stories, which will further expand the lore of the games, and give you an insight into what it’s like to inhabit our worlds.
Narrative Campaigns – For those that want some lore, but also want to game, we’re planning on regularly releasing new narrative campaigns, which focus on giving you action packed missions, combined with awesome stories, as well as introducing some cool campaign specific characters (we don’t want named characters as part of our army lists).
World Guides – This is the big one. For those that want to further sink their teeth into the lore, we’re working on complete world guides, which are 30-35 page booklets filled with art and lore, that will serve as the basis to understand how our worlds work.
Faction Guides – After the wold guides, we’re going to start releasing faction guides, which delve into specific factions, with tons of info on their history, culture, locations, armies, and so on (these won’t contain any rules at all, they are purely about lore).
Comic Strip – For those that are curious about the lore, but want a more light hearted take on it, we’re working on a comic strip series that gives you a funny insight into our worlds. We’ve got someone really special to work on them, but this is still very early stages, so no promises at this point.
New Website – Finally, we’ve slowly been working on a complete overhaul of our website, which we think is currently quite lacking. OPR has grown a lot over the last couple of years, and we think that our website still feels very amateurish in contrast to how professional the project has become. Our goal is to not only make sure that our new website looks great and gives people more confidence in our project, but also to optimize it to make it much easier to navigate and find the content you’re looking for, especially as we offer more and more things to our fans.
As you can see, we are far from resting on our laurels, and OPR is pushing on in new and exciting directions, which we think will make even more players happy to be part of this amazing hobby.
We hope that this update has got you hyped for what’s coming next, and we can’t wait to release all of this content for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for being our fans! :)

AoF: Skrimish v2.50 (beta) is live!
After many months of people asking for it, AoF: Skirmish v2.50 is now ready for beta testing!
Just like the GFF lists, the AoFS lists are fully auto-generated by our new webapp tool, which means that whenever we make changes to AoF, they will be instantly available in AoFS too.
The way that the auto-generation works, is that the system looks at the AoF army lists and then modifies them according to some simple criteria, reducing units down to 1 model, removing artillery and monsters, modifying special rules, and more. Basically, everything we used to do manually, is now automated!
This system is of course still in beta, and as such, you might find some weird things here and there, like special rules not having their intended AoFS effects, pluralization of names being incorrect, and other small things like those. Please make sure to report your feedback on Discord, so that we can fix these.
It’s the start of the month, so today we’ve got a bunch of things for you. There’s the Writing Jam results, a small update on the AoF v2.50 (beta) progress, some new Mission Packs, 2D Minis, 3D Minis, Videos… just a lot of stuff. :)
Let’s get to it!
Writing Jam Results
Two weeks ago we ran our 4th writing jam, which was pretty great, with 33 submissions and 900+ ratings, this has been the biggest writing jam we’ve run so far, which is awesome!
Last week we finally released the AoF v2.50 (beta) army lists, and it’s been great hearing everyone’s feedback, and discussing the intricacies of this new version with fans. We have already caught quite a few bugs that we’ll be fixing, but overall this has been quite a good release so far, without any major broken bits.
Over the next week we’ll try to fix as many things as we can, before also launching the AoF Skirmish v2.50 (beta) at the end of the week. After that we’ll focus on getting the Hive Gangs and the War Cry Clans completed, and then we’ll start looking into taking these lists out of beta.
We’d like to remind everyone that during the beta period, changes are made without warning or explanation, and the list you play today might be completely different tomorrow. A few weeks ago we also made a post explaining the thinking behind the AoF v2.50 beta, so make sure to check it out here.
The latest mission pack has been released on Patreon, with 4 brand new missions:
Grimdark Future – Extermination
GF: Firefight – AI Scrap Zone
Age of Fantasy – King of the Hill

These missions are focused on fun new ways to play, with interesting objectives and special rules to spice things up. We release new missions every month, so make sure to stick around so that you don’t miss any.
Note that whilst the missions are designed for each specific game, you can totally play them with the rules for any other game (with slight adjustments). This means that you have even more missions to play each month!

Writing Jam Voting
Last weekend we ran the 4th OPR Writing Jam, and now it’s time to get your votes in. There’s lots of cool stories to read, so make sure to check them all out and give your honest feedback: https://itch.io/jam/oprwj4/entries
Age of Fantasy v2.50 (beta) is live!
We’ve been working tirelessly on this beta for a while now, and today the AoF v2.50 beta is finally released on the OPR WebApp for you all to enjoy. A few weeks ago we made a post explaining the thinking behind the AoF v2.50 beta, so make sure to check it out here.
Before jumping into the beta, we’d like to remind everyone that this is a BETAbuildand NOT final, which means that the balance is still being heavily tweaked, and there are some obvious issues. For example, there are multiple special rules that currently cost 0pts, when they shouldn’t be free. This will all be fixed soon.
During the beta period, changes are made without warning or explanation, and the list you play today might be completely different tomorrow. If that is an issue for you, then don’t bother playing the beta for now, and stick to the lists of google drive until the beta is over.
Today we’re releasing some small but important game updates, we’ve got a ton of videos for you, and we’d like to remind you that the writing jam is happening today.
Let’s get to it!

New Video Content
That’s it for right now, see you in a few hours when the writing jam starts. :)
This week I got hit by covid pretty hard, so I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with everything. I’m still trying to get AoF v2.50 done for a release hopefully next week, but nothing confirmed yet.
In the meantime, we’d like to remind you to sign up for next week’s writing jam, and we’ve got a bunch of new videos for you to enjoy.

The official OPR Writing Jam #4 will take place on the weekend of the 18th of February, so make sure to save the date. This is a 48hr story writing marathon, focused on writing one-page stories set in the OPR universe.
Last week we posted a lengthy explanation of what is changing in AoF v2.50, and how it will improve the game. We think that this is essential reading for any AoF fans, so make sure to read it thoroughly, and brace yourself for a shift in the meta. :)
Today we’ve got an interesting update for you, with an explanation of AoF v2.50, an overview of all the new February content, as well as a bunch of videos for you to check out.
Let’s get to it!
Writing Jam Reminder
Only 2 weeks until the next Writing Jam everyone!
The official OPR Writing Jam #4 will take place on the weekend of the 18th of February, so make sure to save the date. This is a 48hr story writing marathon, focused on writing one-page stories set in the OPR universe.
Progress on AoF v2.50 has been going well, and if everything works out the way we hope, then the beta will be available to play in a couple of weeks. In preparation for its release, we wanted to take a moment and give you an overview of what is changing from the current versions.
If you’ve been following the development of GF v2.50, most of this stuff will be already familiar to you, so we’re gonna try and keep this one brief and to the point. Overall the changes in GF were much bigger than they are in AoF, so chances are you won’t notice any significant differences whilst playing.
Here’s what you can expect:
No Bad Picks – Some units are currently useless without taking specific upgrades, so we’re tweaking those in such a way that they are always viable to play (even without upgrades).
Unit Power – The attack power of certain units is currently too low / too high relative to their Tough stat, so they’re being tweaked to make sure that nothing is too weak / too strong in the game.
2+ and 6+– The probability of 2+ and 6+ stats is hard to balance in both cost and feel, so we are reducing the amount of units with these stats. This means that most Archer units now have Defense 5+.
Heroes – Similarly to GF, hero profiles are being condensed in order to save space, and give you more options. They now also have access to new unit buffs, as well as army battle standards, giving you a lot more flexibility when customizing your heroes.
Wizards – Again, similar to GF, most spells casters are going down from lvl2 to lvl1, with lvl2 being reserved for legendary units, and lvl3 being removed from the game.
Unit Sizes– Currently there is little reason to take some of the basic infantry units compared to elite units, leading to bad picks. In order to balance that, most elite units are now in blocks of 5, whilst basic infantry come in blocks of 10.
Special Weapons– Right now all basic infantry units have access to Dual Hand Weapons and Great Weapons upgrades, which has skewed the balance of the game. In v2.50, those upgrades are now only available on elite units, whilst basic infantry only get access to Spears and Halberds as upgrades.
Weapon Ranges– The range of weapons has now been capped at 36″, with most artillery now being in the 30″-36″ range. Crossbows will have 24″ range, whilst Rifles have 18″ range (and Pistols 9″ range).
Chariot Changes – Chariots are going down to Defense 3+, and are getting more melee attacks. Also, when taking archer crews for chariots, they now fire more shots (but get less melee attacks).
Monster Changes – Monsters are going down to Defense 3+ as well, but most of them are going up to Tough(12) to compensate. They’re also getting more attacks, and similarly to chariots, when taking ranged options they have more shots (but less melee attacks).
Artillery Changes – Artillery profiles are being condensed, so that we don’t have half a page of essentially the same unit with different weapon options. Most artillery weapons now also have double the amount of attacks that they used to, making them a little more reliable when shooting.
We know that change is hard for everyone to accept, but as we’ve seen with GF v2.50, these new versions are a vast improvement to the balance of our games, so they’re worth it.
Once you’ve played a couple of matches and got used to these changes, you won’t even remember they ever happened, and will be able to enjoy a more balanced and fun experience all around. :)
Also, please don’t forget that this is a beta, and things are still going to be tweaked, so once the armies are available we’re looking forward to hearing your feedback.
