“The rot has seeped into every corner of my home, corrupting all living things that it touches—even the hearts of our settlements. It spreads inexorably outward. It is a blight like I have never seen in all my centuries.”—Eledon
A foul darkness has taken root within the depths of the Heartwood of the Wood Elves, and you must root it out.
We’re eager to announce our second Age of Fantasy: Quest Campaign, Into the Heart of the Rot. We will release this across seven chapters, with the first chapter releasing today to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 Patreon supporters. Tier 2 Patreon supporters will also get the 3D Model for Yrana added to their MyMiniFactory libraries. We will continue to publish a chapter of the adventure alongside Wood Elf releases in the coming months to allow you to use your new models in our new Age of Fantasy: Quest adventure.
Players can play the adventure with any valid party. While recommended enemies will match up with Wood Elf force releases, it’s possible to play the scenarios with any collection of units for your enemies!
Following on an unexpected lead, the party finds itself in the Imperial town of Layfirth, on the edge of the Heartwood. Here, you encounter Eledon Dulocrinis, a Wood Elf turned Eternal, seeking allies outsiders willing to venture into the depths of the forest. A strange effect, known as the rot, has tainted the woods and beyond, marking plants and wildlife alike with a strange blight.
The source of the rot seems to stem from an ancient tome created by a mysterious sorcerer that radiates a corrupting power. Once thought sealed among the forgotten ruins of the High Elves, abandoned when they were exiled from the Heartwood over a millenia ago.
The corruption of this spellbook has even touched on one of those closest to Eledon: his former apprentice, Yrana the Spell Weaver. As the Spell Weaver steals the tome away from your grasp, she used it to empower the rot and channel her own magic through it, forcing you to fight your way to freedom out of the ancient elven vaults.
Though you survived, you now have a new threat: Using this book, Yrana may extend the power of the rot into the core of the surrounding Wood Elf communities, poisoning not only the trees at the centre of their communities but also their hearts and minds. It’s up to you and Eledon to find the Wood Elves and their sacred trees, free them from Yrana’s tainted influence, and summon enough allies to your cause to bring the fight to the Spell Weaver herself.
With Yrana’s sudden but inevitable betrayal in the heart of an old High Elven ruin, you will be forced to confront her in combat. Here, you must contend not only with her vicious warband but also the consuming power of the rot, which corrupts the terrain around her, as well as her own spell-casting abilities and formidable defences, which have been greatly bolstered by her new spell book.
Yet, many ancient treasures lay here sealed away for centuries, and intrepid adventurers may find themselves leaving the encounter richer than when they entered, provided that they don’t succumb to the power of the rot.
Through your campaign, you will get the chance to finally delve into the Heartwood and fight against the encroaching corruption brought on by the rot. You will get a glimpse into the reclusive cultures that come together to make up the circles and courts of the Wood Elves. Here you will find bitter foes and unlikely allies as you seek to cure the forest of its corruption, explore the depths of ancient ruins, and uncover invaluable treasures as you fight to protect the Heartwood from the ancient evil once considered to have been sealed away forever. The rot blossoms in the dark places under Yrana’s influence, and it will be a race to succeed against her whims as the corruption spreads and threatens to overwhelm the whole of the Heartwood.
Using the quick-to-learn Age of Fantasy: Quest rule set, you’ll bring a band of heroes through challenging missions and encounters, testing their strength, dexterity, and will. Combining the best aspects of skirmish wargaming and role-playing games, you’ll have the chance to create a hero and, through them, leave your mark on the face of Tyria forevermore.
Can you save the Heartwood from the rot?
Happy Wargaming!
