Edge of the Radiance is an all new narrative campaign for Grimdark Future by One Page Rules launching this fall on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers. Two armies clash on a distant world with forces lead by four new Heroes and a full epic story to play through. This week we're going to be taking a closer look at two of those heroes: Captain Lyao for the Eternal Dynasty and Vradhez for the Alien Hives.
Captain Lyao was once a rising star of the Eternal Dynasty, a brilliant tactician and skilled warrior who led armies to victory, earning nicknames like the Hero of the Shattered Belt. However, he lost the Royal Clan’s favour during the Kye-Hyoun campaign, when he forced a truce with the Dwarf Guilds in order to spare civilian lives.
As punishment, he was disgraced and sent to Loung We, a remote, barren planet close to the Radiance Exclusion Zone, to serve his remaining days in obscurity. After years of exile, he has resigned himself to a life of overseeing mushroom cultures and fighting the ever-encroaching dust.
Most of his soldiers have forgotten that their grumpy Captain with the bad shoulder still keeps his two Ironbane swords sharp and his Twin Shotgun loaded. Lyao may have lost his appetite for war, but when the Alien Hives land on Loung We, he will have no choice but to fight again.
Vradhez has served his Hive for a long time, first assisting the late Hive Lord, and now as the chief advisor to Prime Warrior Druzhak. As his scarred face can attest, he has fought in many battles and lost countless friends. He will go to any lengths and sacrifice anything for his people.
While he is no slouch in melee, Vradhez’s biggest strength lies in his psychic powers and his strategic abilities, both of which he uses ruthlessly in the pursuit of his goals. The proximity of the Radiance, a cosmic anomaly, is proving a challenge as it interferes with his powers; but he is not one to shy away from pain.
Vradhez may not lead the Hive, but Druzhak values his advice and experience. More than anyone, Vradhez knows that Loung We needs to fall; there is no backup plan.
Situated near the nefarious cosmic anomaly called the Radiance, the remote Eternal Dynasty colony of Loung We is probably one of the worst assignments one can get. Captain Lyao has resigned himself to this exile and spends his time overseeing mushroom production and trying to maintain his facilities. Even some of his own soldiers have little faith in him, including Sergeant Wou, an eager Ninja fresh off training.
This life of austere boredom is about to be brutally interrupted. From the cold void of space emerges an Alien Hive ship. Led by Prime Warrior Druzhak and his advisor Vradhez, the Hivers are reeling from a series of disastrous battles. But Vradhez is convinced that here, on Loung-We, lies the key to their people’s survival.
Lyao must rally his motley subordinates to mount a defense, earning their respect in the process, while Druzhak seeks to ensure the survival of his people. Not all is as it seems, however, at the Edge of the Radiance...
