Today I’ve just got a quick update for you, with some new rules for the Rebel Guerrillas as well as some other news regarding Patreon releases and such. The end of the month is always a big rush of preparing things for the next release, so I haven’t had a ton of time to work on Sellswords, but am hoping to be able to give more info soon.
Let’s get to it!
Rebel Guerrillas Updates
The Rebel Guerrillas are one of those armies that was not busted in any way, but that definitely needed some more love, so this week we’ve given it an overhaul.
The general idea was that we added spotters and pioneers to give some interesting tactical options, added veterans to give access to higher quality for mainline troops, vehicles now have the option to be more durable without being too heavy and finally light walkers now have lots more options to give more versatility to the unit.
Here’s the full changelog:
Added new units: Spotters, Pioneers, Veterans
Commanders can now take the Dug In rule
Psychics now have access to more upgrades
All vehicles now have access to Heavy Plating
Light Walkers have new weapon upgrade options

Let’s get to it!

New Arena Games Available
In other big game news, the new version of our arena games is now available for download!
The new version of arena is much faster, more engaging, and doesn’t require and can even be played withot a hex board. We know that this might be a bit jarring at first, but we trust that after a couple of matches you will also find the new version to be more enjoyable.
We are going to keep the old version available for download here until the 31st of March, after which it will be removed. If you want to keep it make sure to download it before that.
Over the next couple of weeks we’re going to be making some much needed updates to a couple of the armies that currently haven’t been getting a lot of love, as well as some other small updates here and there.
Today we’ve updated the Beastmen army for AoF, re-working a lot of the units to make them a bit more varied and interesting, as well as adding some new hero rules. We’ve also made some minor updates to the Robot Legions, adding some options to fit our new models.

March Painting Contest
Finally as the last piece of news for today, we’ve posted the guidelines for the March painting contest, which is now sponsored by Elegoo so that winners get free bottles of resin!
Speaking of painting, here’s a new video showing off how to paint one of our Saurians. Make sure to subscribe to Paintman Journeying for more videos on how to paint miniatures, featuring the official OPR models!
That’s it for today, hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll be back with more army updates soon. :)
This week has been quite busy, with us preparing for the end-of-month releases, as well as starting work on everything that’s coming out next month.
Since our posts have been getting longer and longer with time, we’re going to try to be more brief in the future, so that you don’t have to read massive walls of text to find out what’s new every week.
The 2D6 version of Warfleets: FTL is going to be removed from our website on the 31st of January, so make sure to download it now before it’s too late by going here!
We’d like to remind everyone that the spirit of Warfleets: FTL 2D6 is going to live on as part of our other spaceships game Orion’s Gate, which you can find in the one-offs section.
Darkness Within – Chapter 2
The second chapter of Darkness Within is now available on Patreon, and continues the story of princess Misha’s quest to defeat the vampire menace and re-claim her throne.
The campaign has now been updated with beautiful cover art and interior illustrations, making for a truly awesome package filled with exciting stories and epic battles!

Jakob’s Path Released
The Jakob’s Path narrative campaign for Grimdark Future has now been released to the public, and is available for purchase on WGV/DTRPG. The story follows an epic clash between Battle Brothers and Orcs over the course of 10 missions, although it can be played with any other armies as well.
The standalone campaign is just $4.99, but we’ve also got a bundle for $11.99 that includes paper miniatures for two full armies of Battle Brothers and Orcs, plus paper miniatures of all the heroes in the campaign, plus a complete set of paper terrain.
We also just released season 2 of both Grimdark Future: Arena and Age of Fantasy: Arena. You can find the free rules on the individual game pages, whilst the complete versions are available on WGV/DTRPG.
To celebrate the release of season 2, we’ve lowered the price of each individual season to $4.99, and we’ve also got season 1+2 bundles for each of them, all for only $7.99. These include full color miniatures for all factions, full color hex boards, as well as full color play tokens and deadly hexes.
Now that season 2 has been released, we’re going to be starting work on season 3, which will only be available in early access for the next 6 months. If you’re an arena fan, then make sure to support us on Patreon!
Gang Wars – The Femmes
This week we just released the first 2D gang with The Femmes, which comes with a handful of gangers and a mascot in two versions. For the next couple of months you can expect us to release more gangs, and we’ll probably end up covering them all.
Don’t forget that the GFF expansion Gang Wars is only available on Patreon until the end of the month, after which it will be put up for sale on WGV/DTRPG for a higher price.
New 3D Robot Legions & Saurians Released
In December we started releasing two new 3D print armies, and now wave 1 has been released on MMF as a bundle with 20% discount. If you’re a patron you also get 40% off on top of that, so check them out!
We’re going to be releasing even more awesome models for these two armies throughout January and February, so make sure to support us on Patreon to get them at the lowest possible price ever. :)
Free Skeleton Archer
It’s been a few weeks since we released a new free model, and that definitely needs to be fixed. This is the last free model we’re releasing from our previous armies, and next month we’ll start releasing free models from our new armies, so make sure to follow us on our Thingiverse page.
A long long time ago, we had started working on a very early draft of a one-page RPG called Dungeons & Glory, which aimed at streamlining RPG mechanics into a super simple and beginner-friendly format.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been testing out a lot of different RPG systems with a few of my friends, and decided to pick up the old D&G again, and give it another shot. This has lead to a complete re-working of the core system, as well as the addition of a useful GM guide, which introduces lots of different things to play around with.
Right now we’re planning on keeping this system as a one-off game, but who knows, one day it may very well lead to the creation of the infamous OPRPG…
The world of OPR seems to be ever-expanding, and now community members Jimbo and Lucas have put together a new podcast dedicated to all things OPR called OnePageFools!
Listen, like and follow here:
Jakob’s Path + Heroes
December is the last month in which our Grimdark Future narrative campaign Jakob’s Path is going to be available on Patreon, and as a special treat we have now released 2D models for all of the campaign’s heroes, which are fully compatible with our previously released Battle Brothers and Orc Marauders models!
With this week’s release of the Saurians 2D Army Pack, we’ve added the Saurians warband to AoF:A S02, and with this the season has been completed!
It’s really cool to see that now with each arena game having 6 hex boards, 6 warbands and 2 common assets, the game feels a lot more complete, and allows for a ton of match ups.
There’s also the warband creation rules, which allow you to use any and all miniatures you have as well, and we’re looking forward to seeing how people use the system to add all sorts of crazy warbands!
Note that the warbands are designed to be compatible with WHU miniatures, and with an upcoming lizard warband we’ll make sure to update the Saurian’s warband composition rules to make them compatible if needed.
Holiday Sale on MMF
Looking to get some more christmas presents?
You can now get 50% off everything in our MMF store by using code OPRXMAS50!
Note: Promotion valid from 15th of December to 1st of January.
Finally, I usually don’t do this, but I feel like I need to address you all directly.
This year has been a very rough one for everyone. Many of us have been going through a lot of hard stuff that frankly nobody deserved. We’ve seen family and friends die, become gravely ill, lose their jobs, their house, their mental heath, their dreams, their future, and many fates worse than that.
I know that I’m just some random guy on the internet, and that I can’t change any of the things that happened, but I hope that this project has helped at least some of you see some light in the dark. I’ve been steering this ship by myself for many years now, but this year has been something else, and I’ve pushed myself as hard as I could to bring you all as much gaming content as possible to hopefully keep you distracted for at least a moment.
Gaming has always been a means for me to get together with family and friends to have a laugh, and I think there’s nothing that we need more than the people we love near us in these times of isolation. If you or someone you know could use some time off this pandemic, and you think that gaming could help them, then please share this project with them. All of the games are free, there are free models, and we have a lovely community that can help you get set up for playing online if needed.
I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to turn my dreams into a reality, but I know that there are many people out there that haven’t been as lucky as me. I’ve spent many years of my life going through a lot of difficult things, and I know what it feels like to be looking up from rock bottom and see no hope. I feel a huge responsibility towards everyone that has supported the project to make the most out of it and provide everyone with as much value as I possibly can. I hope that in this I have succeeded.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone that has believed in the project, and I hope that I can keep putting a smile on your face for many more years to come.
Today we’ve got a bunch of cool stuff for you, with a teaser for Darkness Whitin, results for last week’s Community Survey, a ton of new Gang Units, plus some news for 3D Printing as well as a brand new 2D Print Collaboration.
Let’s get to it!
December saw the completion of the Jakob’s Path narrative campaign for Grimdark Future, so starting in January we’ve got a brand new Age of Fantasy narrative campaign coming at you called Darkness Within.
Every 6 months we’re happy to make a community survey, where players get the chance to tell us what they want to see in the future, share which armies they play, and provide any feedback they have.
Usually we also have some extra questions about other stuff, but this time we decided to keep the survey lean and simple, focusing on the things that matter to us the most.
Let’s see what results we got. :D
Which of these settings would you be interested in for new full games?
Alright, this is the big one, as it guides the development of our next games, and it seems that we got pretty much the same results as in our last survey, except that this time “Customizable Skirmish” has also shot it’s way to the top, and we’ve got a lot of votes for a One-Page RPG as well, which is not the norm.
Here’s the top 5 highlighted:
Small-Scale Sci-Fi – 37.5%
Mech Combat – 35.6%
Customizable Skirmish – 32.9%
Cyberpunk – 28.8%
One-Page RPG – 21.9%
Let’s break down what we’ve been planning for the future, since it’s going to be pretty much in line with the survey results:
Very soon we’ll have a One-Page RPG system coming as a one-off game, to test the waters and see how people like our approach to the genre. If we see that it gets a good response, then we might expand that into a full game in the future.
Then we’ve got a new Skirmish Adventure Game that we’ve been trying to develop over the past couple of months, which will also scratch a bit of that RPG itch, but most importantly it will be in line with the results from the last survey.
For Mech Combat, right now we’re working on revising the FTL rules, and once that is done and we’ve got the full game released, we’ll be working on a Mech Combat game that uses a modified version of the same engine.
For Small-Scale Sci-Fi, that’s something that we’ve been thinking about for a very long time, and we’re probably going to build a system that uses a similar model as FTL, where you have a core set of units types and customization options, plus 5-6 factions that can be further customized (instead of 20+ army books).
For Cyberpunk, we’ve currently got the Double Tap rules as a one-off, and would be very happy to expand those into a full game, so that’s definitely coming some day. Honestly with the development speed we have we’re not sure if it’ll be possible in 2021, but we’ll try.
Finally, for Customizable Skirmish, we’ve had some ideas on how we could expand on WarStuff to make it a little more fun and customizable, whilst also adding some new ways to play, and we’re planning on working on that as a side-project since it doesn’t take up as much time as developing other games.
That’s it on the games side, now onto the next two questions:
Which Grimdark Future armies do you play?
On the Grimdark Future side things are pretty stable as usual, with lots of Battle Brothers players dominating the landscape. It’s really cool to see that we’ve got some people that are playing the armies we’ve done in collaboration with TMC and TEO, and we’re hoping to do more in the future!
Which Age of Fantasy armies do you play?
With Age of Fantasy we also have more or less similar results as in the last survey, with a much more balanced distribution of armies played. It’s also cool to see that some people are playing the just recently released Giant Tribes, which are definitely a niche army.
Do you have any suggestions for things we should do with OPR (new games, armies, features, etc.)?
Finally, the open question is always a delight, since we get such a diverse range of feedback, questions, suggestions, and more. There’s also always a bunch of you who use this opportunity to thank us for making the games, which is very heart warming, and actually I have to thank you for making this possible. This project truly couldn’t exist without it’s fans, and I’m happy that we have such a nice community! :D
Now onto some of the feedback, I’ll try to keep it brief:
Some people have asked us if your focus will shift from games to miniatures, and the answer is a very decisive no. The miniatures are a great way for us to further establish our own settings, to provide fans with something cool, and to provide funding for the project, but that’s it. Whilst we definitely want to keep expanding and improving our miniatures, we have no intention to stop focusing on the games. We provide regular updates to all of our games, and currently have 3 games in early access, with more coming in the future, so we’ve actually ramped up our game development as well. So don’t worry about the games, lots of stuff is coming your way!
Lots of people commented that they’d like to see more stuff like Gang Wars but for the other games, like a Mordheim-style game, or Crusade-style rules. That’s definitely something that we’re planning on doing, so it’s just a matter of time before it’s released.
There’s also lots of people that have suggested we do map-based campaigns, and that’s also something that we’ve already been planning on doing, so it’s just a matter of time before we get to it.
Some people have asked us to provide solo-rules for our games, but actually we already have solo-rules for all of our 5 mainline games. This probably means that the information is not displayed well on the website, and we’ll have to take a look at how to make things more visible.
In addition to that, a lot of people have asked for a solo/coop skirmish dungeon exploration game, and as we mentioned above, we’ve got a Skirmish Adventure Game in the works which is exactly that.
There were some people who asked if it’s possible to play our games online, and it definitely is! We have an active community of players that use Roll20 and TTS, so make sure to join our Discord server to set up games.
Some people asked if we have plans to release 100% original OPR armies for 3D printing, and that’s also something we’ve been planning on doing. Right now we’re going to be doing 2 regular army releases followed by 1 original army release, so you can look forward to that.
Finally, a lot of people have said that they enjoy the little snippets of lore we provide, and that they’d like to see more. Well, fret not, as we’ve got a whole series of campaigns coming out which take place in our game universes, so there’s lots of lore coming you way.
I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the survey once more, and we’ll be back with another community survey in about 6 months when we can catch up again! :D
New Gang Units
With Gang Wars being currently available on Patreon, we’ve decided to go back and re-visit the Gangs of Hive City army list, adding 20 new units for the existing gangs, as well as adding a completely new mercenaries gang, which features units that can be taken by any gang to bolster their abilities.
Note: Promotion valid from 15th of December to 1st of January.
New Army Bundles
The complete set of Alien Hives and Mummified Undead have now been released as a bundle on MMF, and with a hefty 20% discount on top. Combine that with the 50% discount above and you’re in for some madness! :D
Chimeric Creations was actually started by one of our community members Murmillo, who has been working toward creating fantasy miniatures that can be used to play miniature wargames and RPG’s. This set actually works perfectly to play a Dark Elf warband in AoF: Skirmish, or even build a small Dark Elf army for AoF!
Today we’ve got lots of cool news for you, from the Writing Jam, to our Gang Wars and Jakob’s Path expansions, a new AoF:S Starter Set, new Spear Skeletons and more.
Let’s get to it!
OPR Writing Jam #2
Back in September we hosted our very first OPR Writing Jam, which saw participants create a one-page story set in the OPR universe within a 48hrs deadline, and set to a theme.
Since people seem to have enjoyed both writing and reading the stories, and we’ve had multiple people request it over the past few months, we have decided to host the writing jams every 6 months!
This means that between game jams and writing jams, we’re going to have an OPR Jam every 3 months, allowing all of our fans to express their creativity and get together as a community to build fun stuff together.
The next writing jam is going to be in February, and you can sign up HERE.
Gang Wars Progress
Recently we announced that Gang Wars was under development, and things have been moving forward pretty quickly for the expansion over the last few weeks.
Whilst the game is still under development in early access, we’ve already added 95% of the content, and the expansion is now fully playable, only needing some minor tweaks.
PRIZE: The community will vote for the best looking submission, and the top 3 submissions will get one FREE month on Patreon at Tier 2 (handled via refund).
BONUS: One other randomly determined participant will also get one FREE month on Patreon at Tier 2 (handled via refund).
NOTE: The miniatures should be painted by you, no commissions allowed. By entering the contest you give OPR permission to share the pictures on our social media platforms.
Free Skeleton Spearmen
If you supported us on Patreon in September or bought our Skeleton Warriors set on MyMiniFactory, rejoice, because we’ve just added spear options to them for free!
Don’t worry though, if you didn’t have the chance to get the models yet, they’re still available to buy on MMF, and you also get a 30% discount if you support us on Patreon.
We’re also going to have a special christmas sale in a couple of weeks, offering 50% store discounts, so if you’re looking for the cheapest deal just be a little more patient and you can get these models for super cheap.
Free Soul-Snatcher Model
Last but not least, guess what? Another free model! This has been a streak of one new free model every week on Thingiverse for over a month, a new record for us.
All of the submissions were really awesome, and honestly it was really hard to not just give everyone a 5 star rating across the board. In any case, here are some of our favorite games:
O.R.B.I.T. Link – This one might be one of my favorites simply because I’m a huge fan of Titanfall, and it’s a game that combines mech and infantry combat in a very elegant way. This could easily be re-worked into a full standalone game. :D
Android Racing Circuit – This is a fast-paced racing game that has racers running laps whilst trying to get control of a cyberball. Even includes a dexterity game for pit stops, which is just absolutely awesome!
Synergistic Outcomes – Android Netrunner: The Miniatures Game. Never thought I’d see such a cool take on the concept of a hacking game, and it comes with a huge number of Programs and ICE to boot.
Thanks everyone for participating, make sure to sign up for OPR Game Jam #3 which will take place in May 2021, and maybe there will also be a new writing jam in the meantime…
November Painting Contest Winners
This month we ran a Painting Contest, asking participants to paint any model from our October release and now the community voting results are in!
The winners are:
1st Place with Most Votes: Sebastian Paints
Congratulations to both, who have won one free month at Tier 3 on Patreon!
We’d like to thank everyone who participated, and we’re hoping to see your entries again in next month’s painting competition. :)
In order to spice things up, starting next month we’re going to have 3 winners as per voting, but also 1 random participant will have the chance of winning a free month as well!
Black Friday Deal – Last Chance!
Today is the last day of our Black Friday sale on MMF, and you can now get 50% off everything in our MMF store by using code OPRFRIDAY:
With the latest batch of our Alien Hives and Mummified Undead models, we are going to take a break from those armies to start releasing two new ones as voted by the community: Robot Legions & Saurians!
Right now we’re still working out the details, but for each army you can expect 1-2 heroes, 5 infantry models and 3 large infantry or cavalry models. As soon as we have more info we’ll let you know.
On top of that we’re also going to have a new collaboration coming (more on that in the coming weeks), and we’re currently trying to get another FTL fleet done in December. Unfortunately due to personal reasons there have been some delays with the spaceships, and we can’t promise that there will be a new fleet in December, so we recommend waiting for more news if you’re subscribing specifically for the fleets.
Then aside from that there’s going to be Gang Wars, Jakob’s Path, AoF: Arena Season 2, and a ton of new and exciting paper models coming at you. December will be awesome! :D
As a teaser, here are some early concepts for our Robot Legions army:
That’s it for today, November has been a rough month for us, but we’re hoping to get back on track in December, and make sure everyone gets something cool in the holiday period. :)
Voting will be open until Sunday 22nd of November, so be fast!
Make sure to read and vote on as many entries as you can, and if you want to chat with the designers or even give the games a try on Roll20 or TTS, then join our Discord, where we have a dedicated Game Jam channel.
Voting will be open until Thursday the 26th of November, and you can vote for multiple painters too, so don’t hold back!
GFF: Gang Wars is coming!
It seems that not a month goes by without us revealing some cool new thing, so here we go again with a brand new expansions for Grimdark Future: Firefight with Gang Wars!
So, what exactly is Gang Wars?
Gang Wars is an expansion for GFF that provides additional rules for violent gang combat in the streets of the dangerous and futuristic Hive City.
The rules are designed to be used both for one-off matches as well as for linked campaigns, and they can be played with any armies, although we recommend using Gangs of Hive City.
This is a standalone expansion, so you just need the free core rules and army lists that are available on the website, however you can also use the extra rules from the Full Rulebook to further expand your games.
The expansion’s campaign rules are based off the core campaign rules, however they come with a ton of extra content that add new layers to your GFF campaign experience.
In linked campaigns gangs will fight over city blocks and special locations, with an expanded roster of new skills and equipment, as well as a lot of other surprises. If you just want to play one-off games don’t worry though, most of the stuff can be used for single matches as well, such as 12 brand new missions and urban terrain rules.
Right now all of the following content is being added to the game, however there are even more systems that we’re playing around with, so you might get even more stuff in the end!
New Skill Traits
Hive City Armory
Territory Control Rules
Gang Turf Exploration
12 New Missions
Urban Terrain Rules
City Fighting Rules
Critical Hits Rules
36 New Random Events
Gang Wars is currently in early access on Patreon, with new content being added every week, and we’re hoping to have the first completed draft by the end of the month.
If everything goes well, then we’ll keep the game for a little while longer in early access, after which it will be removed and be available for sale in our WargameVault store.
This has been a blast to design, and we can’t wait to see people’s reactions once it’s out!
Today we’ve got some exciting news about 3D Printing, a massive new Welcome Pack, updates to our Arena Games, a new Warband Creator, and lots more stuff.
Let’s get to it!

Do you want to play our arena games but can’t find a warband that suits your miniatures? Maybe you like the existing warbands but want to tweak them to your liking?
Well, now you can! We’ve just released our brand new Warband Creators for arena on Patreon, which allow you to do all of that and much more.
The Warband Creators give you everything you need in order to create custom stats for your models, as well as pre-made tactics boards and upgrade cards for 3 styles of warbands. That’s 30+ assets which you can combine to create your own warband, and if you want to also use the assets from the official warbands then it’s 180+ assets you can use!
On top of that we also provide you with all of the PSD files necessary to create custom tactics boards and upgrade cards, as well as PSD files to create custom hex-boards from scratch. There truly are no limits to your imagination!
The Warband Creators are only available on Patreon, so make sure to support us today!
