Alien Hives Unveiled: Meet Drekhor the Vengeful and Ksi'adoz Smokeborn

Aline Hives Unveiled will be launching next month on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers! Not only will you get the brand new Alien Hives Faction Book, but you can also expect to get four new Narrative Heroes for the faction. Today we'll be taking a look at two of them: Drekhor the Vengeful and Ksi'adoz Smokeborn. Even better, their stats are live now on Army Forge if you want to check them out, today!

Drekhor Vothske Thoir, “The Vengeful”

Hive Lord Drekhor is a legend amongst the Hives, standing as a testament to their grim determination and martial valor against near impossible odds.

He is most famous for Drekhor’s Last Charge, the battle which firmly established the fame of Hiveship Makhradontos, of which it remains one of the most celebrated fights. Memories of Drekhor’s pride and grit are instilled in the minds of every newborn Makhradontos Hiver.

His nickname “the Vengeful” comes not only from his ferocious advocacy for avenging the first Hiveships destroyed by the Eternal Dynasty, but from the payback he inflicted upon an ONI who felled Prime Warrior Gla’ez, one of his closest friends, during the Last Charge.

Taking place on planet Dyaling during the First Contact War, the Last Charge saw Drekhor personally lead a suicidal assault against a powerful Eternal Dynasty cannon that threatened to destroy Hiveship Makhradontos.

During a melee at the entrance of the Eternal Dynasty facilities, Prime Warrior Gla’ez fell to an ONI’s blade, which sent Drekhor into a fit of grief and rage. The Hive Lord engaged in a sword duel, and while the ONI had mastered the blade, Drekhor’s wrath gave him an edge.

Dragging the carcass behind him, the Hive Lord shouted taunts at the fleeing Eternal Dynasty General, then he slaughtered the few enemies that remained. The duel is still commemorated by the Hivers of the Charred Edge, and “Drekhor’s despair” has become a byword for vengeful fury.

While he disappeared in the cannon’s explosion, rumours claim that Drekhor has appeared in battlefields all across the Sirius Sector, putting the Hives’ most hateful persecutors to the sword.

In battle, Drekhor is a frightful melee threat. With Defense 2+, Tough(12) combined with Fortified, Retaliate, and Fearless - his opponent is going to have to commit a slew of forces to take him down, and pay a heavy price to do so. And when it is time to fight back, Drekhor has 16 Quality 3+ attacks and his main weapon, the Wrathful Blade, is devastating against even the strongest targets with AP(4)! Few could hope to survive such an onslaught.

Ksi’adoz Ksaga Zā’oir, “the Murdering Darkness”

Sporting a ragged cloak, Ksi’adoz is a Shadow Hunter who uses smoke and mist to disorient his enemies before striking. He remains a subject of interest to countless Human operatives, but the only proof of his existence is a single, blurry surveillance picture.

Ksi’adoz belongs to Hiveship Voithsor, one of the most secretive that dwells deep within the Sirius Sector. Travelling silently across the dense, hostile environment of the Foreign Confines, Voithsor Hivers rely on stealth while shying from conflict and even contact. Instead, they seed remote and hidden worlds, while harvesting discretely from backwater systems. The Voithsor Council has long held that their species’ best chance at survival is to be as close to invisible as possible.

In keeping with this philosophy, Ksi’adoz has become an extremely efficient guerrilla leader. He is an expert in camouflage, often sneaking his way deep inside enemy camps, and even sleeping there. He can forge tracks and set up decoys, lead patrols into ambushes, and even shape the natural environment into deadly traps thanks to the Alien Hives’ deep biological abilities.

Many of the warriors who have tried to hunt down Ksi’adoz saw themselves as stronger, smarter, superior in numerous ways. And on paper, they were often right. But by the time they finally got close to the Shadow Hunter, they were tired, cold, lost and afraid. And he was right behind them.

Ksi'adoz is a stealthy and deadly surprise for his his foes. With Stealth, Strider and Infiltrate, he can make his way to areas of the battlefield that his foes are least prepared to deal with him or vital deep targets. And with the Stealth Buff, he can help escort an entire unit along with him! When he gets to the target, his Shadow Daggers can make short work of light targets, and with Caster(1), he can adapt to many challenges.
