Something whispers beneath the sands of Ijida, calling you deeper. Venture below alongside the young Shaman Tayra and her companion Ranjo as they explore the husk of the ancient vessel that they have called home for the last five years.

We’re excited to announce Whispers Below, an all-new narrative campaign for Grimdark Future: Firefight. A five-chapter narrative campaign connected to the wider Gateway Saga that began with Edge of the Radiance.

Ijida is the homeworld of the Jackals and is well known throughout the Sirius Sector as a graveyard for ships. The Jackals, as a result, have gained a reputation as scavengers, building entire cities over wrecked ships as they scrap them for parts, either for their own technology or to sell back to their former owners.

Yet, something stirs below. From the deepest part of the ship, where no Jackals has been able to uncover, there are still signs of activity. When Tayra goes down to follow the whispers that have been calling her, she discovers that the ship’s former crew have not been destroyed but are dormant; the Robot Legion will wake from their deactivation.

Led by Oath-U7X1, their head of security, and the Xyros-Z320, their lead researcher, the Robots will have to decide how to react to their new situation. Things are not as clear-cut as they first appear, however, as the extraordinary circumstances of their crash lead some to question protocol and question whether there may be a better way forward.

Whispers Below lets you play through this story, fighting ten narrative-driven battles as the Jackals delve deeper into the ship to discover the mysterious source of the whispers while the suddenly awakened Robots struggle to defend their home and the mysterious secrets that their research uncovered before the crash.

Alongside the story, we will also create four new miniatures to reflect the four main characters of the tale: Jackal Shaman Tayra and her Veteran companion Ranjo will be able to face off on the table against the unyielding Annihilator Oath-U7X1 and the calculating Overseer Xyros-Z320.

As the whispers call you deeper into the long-dormant crash and secrets are unveiled, which side will you take? The enterprising Jackals are led by an eccentric Shaman who seeks to uncover what lies beneath the sands of their world, while the Robot Legions, commanded by Oath-U7X1, are determined to protect their ship and its secrets from prying eyes at any cost.
