Saurians Unveiled: Meet Xakanu the Daemon Slayer & Sika, and Hana & Haki, The Twins in the Fogs
Saurians Unveiled will be launching this month on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers! Not only will you get the brand new Saurians Faction Book, but you can also expect to get five new Narrative Heroes for the faction. Today we'll be taking a look at two of them: Xakanu, the Daemon Slayer & Sika and Hana and Haki, The Twins in the Fogs. Even better, their stats are live now on Army Forge if you want to check them out, today!

Xakanu, the Daemon Slayer & Sika
Once a humble dung-shovelling beast handler, Xakanu’s chance encounter with some Vinci intruders awoke a love of battle. Adorning himself in bones left as scrap by the Lizards he cared for, Xakanu leapt onto the back of a rare breed of Dragon Lizard to pursue the raiders. The resulting Qetsike Stampede left fewer than a dozen Vinci survivors and earned Xakanu acclaim within his own pyramid.
Xakanu quickly set out campaigning, early hunting intruding Daemons and other foes, collecting their bones as trophies. He even shares these trophies with his beloved pet, allowing Sika to chew on his Bonesmasher Mace, which he claims his mount finds calming and works up his appetite before battle.
Xakanu’s brutal approach to combat has earned him the name the Daemon Slayer, as even the War Daemons who often raided Qetsike pyramid hesitate to face down the mad Gecko who wears a helmet made from one of their former comrades. Even some among the Obsidian Band Conclave find the quiet Gecko to be somewhat off putting, especially after seeing his extremely violent approach to combat. Still, Xakanu has gained some respect from riders and his fellow handlers who can recognise the extremely deep bond that he shares with Sika, whom he dotes on like a little Saurian child might care for their pet frog.
For his part, Xakanu pays little mind to any comments from others; so long as he is allowed to ride into battle alongside his beloved mount, swinging his deadly Bonesmasher Mace as Sika’s molten spit melts down the armour of any unfortunate enough to find themselves in range.

Xakanu is a combat hero that specializes in just making things disappear from the table. For anything with really heavy armor, Sika's molten spit will melt right through it with AP(4). Getting her close enough shouldn't be a problem either with Strider. Xakanu himself loves thumping heads with his Bonesmasher Mace, four attacks with AP(2) should do a lot of work on it's own to win combat, but Fear(1) gives him a head start as well. Primal only makes this lethal duo even more dangerous with extra attacks on 6's for both Sika's spit and Xakanu's Mace.

Hana and Haki, The Twins in the Fogs
Born from the same egg, the twins Hana and Haki have always shared a close bond; even their naming prophecies are closely interlinked. Prophesied to be a veil of protection for his sister, the gentle but dutiful Haki has long taken on something akin to a big brother role while serving as his sister’s eyes and ears in battle.
Hana, while typically shy and sweet, becomes coldly analytical in battle, picking off enemies with poison darts with the precision of a sniper. Her keen eye and steady hand have picked off many intruders to the foggy swamplands surrounding Xaqi pyramid, eliminating threats before they were even aware of her presence.
They are assisted in battle by an ancient treasure of the Hidden Eye Conclave, known as the Cloudveil. After stealing this relic to defend their pyramid against intruders, the twins have been granted the right to use it by the pyramid’s reclusive Frog-Mages, which allows them to conceal their movements by blinding their foes with the fog.
Their closeness as a pair has made them particularly deadly at picking off foes, and some among the Xaqi have tried to emulate it, though this twin duo remain the best at what they do. Many who have come too close to the Hidden Eye Conclave’s borders have learnt to fear the rolling fog as their only warning of the twin’s presence; by the time Hana’s first dart flies, it is already too late.

Haki and Hana work as a team, but share only one profile, which means in-game the best practice would be to pick one of the duo to represent the model from which line of sight and measurements would be taken, and the other can follow as more of a token. Most of their abilities work around making their Deathspitter Blowpipes even more deadly. Bane, which represents the poisoned tipped darts, prevents regeneration and can turn saves that roll 6's into fails with a reroll. Good Shot gives them a much better chance to hit, while Haki also provides Precision Spotter to the pair, making it so they can mark a unit to make themselves or other Saurians more accurate against it. And if enemy heroes are a problem, Takedown when Shooting provided by Hana can allow this team to fire directly upon them with a hail of poison darts.
